Zimbabwe Educational Health, Welfare and Mission Workers Union



The Trade Union was registered with the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare. It was originally registered on the 17th of July 1985 as the Zimbabwe Educational, Welfare and Mission Workers Union. It changed its name on the 23rd of April 1996 to become Zimbabwe Educational, Scientific, Social and Cultural Workers Union which in a way varied its scope of coverage.
Current Scope
- Teaching, instructing or training of students at all levels of education.
- Record keeping and carrying out of any activities, within the institution administration. All scientific and technical operations.
- Running of any operations within child and aged care welfare institutions.
- Running of any operations in Libraries, Information and Resources centres.
- Carrying out of any operations within research and running research institutions.
- Installation and maintenance of electricity supply systems.
- All round operations of the maintenance departments including workshop operations.
- Caring for patients in private and mission health institutions.
- Provision of a family planning and reproductive health.
- Provision of special education for disabled persons.
- Provision of adult literacy education.
- Provision of early childhood education.
- Carrying out of educational printing other than commercial.
- Cooking and running of kitchens in the above said sectors.
- The operation of boilers.
- Provision of art and cultural operations.
- General plant growing, maintenance of gardens and lawns, yards, sports grounds and fields
- Caring of students in boarding institutions.
- and any other related functions.
